Elon Musk’s PayPal took everything from Sandeep Choudhary, Google gave him a second chance, and now he is on a mission to save the planet

How Elon Musk’s PayPal took away Sandeep Choudhary’s office, and Google saved his home

Jaipur: It sounds like the plot of a gripping Netflix series, but it is all real. In 2007, Indian climate crusader and innovator Sandeep Choudhary saw his dreams collapse overnight when a crucial international payment was unexpectedly withheld by PayPal, the company co-founded by Elon Musk.

Sandeep’s small but ambitious startup, operating from Jaipur, was left paralysed. PayPal held back his funds, loans went up, paying office rent became impossible, and eventually, he had to shut down the office.

By 2008, he had moved into a modest rented house in Jaipur, where things only got worse. At one point, his father gave him an ultimatum, saying, “If you cannot run this house, let us return to the village. Learn tailoring and stop dreaming.”

These words could have broken anyone, but they only made Sandeep stronger. And then came a miracle in the form of a small cheque from Google AdSense.

“It was not a huge amount, but it arrived exactly when I needed it most. PayPal knocked me down, Google lifted me back up,” Sandeep recalls.

Today, Sandeep heads a startup valued at several million dollars. He is also the India President of Save Earth Mission, an organisation dedicated to the planet. His team recently made global headlines by rewriting a Guinness World Record by planting over 5 lakh trees in just one hour.

Sandeep is now recognised on global platforms like Forbes, Reuters, TEDx, Business Insider, and The Globe & Mail as a thought leader in climate action.

With his newest initiative, “The Biggest Case Study on Earth”, he is using podcasts, publications, and global digital platforms to inspire the next generation to dream bigger, build bolder, and believe in themselves.

“Elon Musk dreams of reaching Mars, while I dream of fixing Earth. Google gave me a second life. Now I want to give Earth a second chance,” says Sandeep.

SATYA Shakti Foundation organized free health camps for people of Gujarat SATYA Shakti Foundation in association with SATYA MicroCapital Ltd. undertook a major initiative of organizing Free Mega Health Check-Up Drive with the noble purpose of creating public awareness for preventive healthcare and enabling a healthy society for people of Gujarat. Under this Mega Health Check-Up Drive, Health Camps were organized in Four villages located in the state of Gujarat. This initiative served around 400 people living in and around the villages of Nenpur, Choila, Umalla & Sukhsar and facilitated people with medical supervision from Certified Doctors. It also encouraged the beneficiaries to take care of their health and implement necessary lifestyle changes in accordance to prevailing pandemic conditions to live healthier lives. The day-long Health Check-Up camps were organized in the premises of nearby Temples and Panchayat Bhawan in respective areas under the guidance of doctors. People availed free health facilities entailing consultation from MBBS doctors for issues ranging from women health and child health to diet & nutrition, availing generic medicines, vitals check like hypertension test, blood pressure test etc. as well as counselling, during the health camp. Sharing humble thoughts on initiative, Shikha Sharma, Director & CEO, SATYA Shakti Foundation stated, “The health camp is one of the best ways of assisting people who require health attention, and we feel privileged to be able to conduct these free health camps. Considering the large turnout of people, we hope to organize many more such health camps in the future to enhance the overall health of the citizens. Also, I am thankful to Mr. Vivek Tiwari, MD, CIO & CEO, SATYA MicroCapital for supporting us in this initiative. I feel awestruck when I realize that SATYA is making extra efforts in serving humanity by providing healthcare checkup services apart from facilitating micro loans to those living on the bottom of the pyramid. I am also grateful to all the Doctors and Medical Fraternity for making this happen”. A visibly very happy participant remarked, “Such free health camps should be organized frequently, so that rural people can avail the benefits of preventive healthcare. I appreciate the choice of organizers for selecting the place of worship as the site for this health camp. Attending a health camp at a place of worship has bestowed enormous faith among us for assessing best medical facilities at our doorstep free of cost. These camps have certainly motivated people to stay proactive about their health and make preventive health check-ups a part of their lifestyle”
