Manav Bests ‘Partner’ Manush but Ahmedabad SG Pipers Hold Off U Mumba TT Fightback to Win 9-6 in IndianOil UTT 2024

The league is airing on Sports18 Khel and streaming live on JioCinema in India and Facebook Live outside India

Chennai, August , 2024: Manav Thakkar beat his usual men’s doubles partner, Manush Shah at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium today, two games to one, but his win wasn’t enough to lead U Mumba TT to victory. Rather, IndianOil Ultimate Table Tennis 2024 debutants Ahmedabad SG Pipers made a solid recovery in the following matches, registering their second win on the bounce.

Captains of their respective teams, Manav and Manush headed to the table first to contest the opening match of the tie, a men’s singles. Manav seized the advantage early, outfoxing Manush to win Game 1 11-2. He took the subsequent game 11-9, while Manush recovered to reduce the deficit with a Game 3 triumph.

The franchise-based league is promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the auspices of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

Manush’s victory in Game 3 was crucial, as it allowed Reeth Rishya to level the tie for Ahmedabad SG Pipers with a 2-1 win over U Mumba TT’s Sutirtha Mukherjee. Manush then partnered with Bernadette Szocs in the mixed doubles, and the pair swept away U Mumba TT’s pairing of Manav and Maria Xiao, 3-0, sealing the final point of the thumping triumph with a brilliant combination move.

Quadri Aruna gave U Mumba TT a way back into the tie with an important 2-1 win over Lilian Bardet. However, Szocs, despite losing her first game to Xiao, heaved the team from Ahmedabad over the line by winning the second. The league’s highest-ranked player later took the third game, too, increasing the margin of victory.

For her win against Sutirtha in Match 2, Reeth took home the Indian Player of the Tie and DafaNews Shot of the Tie honours. Meanwhile Szocs, for her display in singles and doubles, laid claim to the Foreign Player of the Tie and the ACT Tally of the Tie awards.

Wednesday’s sole tie will see the Dabang Delhi TTC take on Athlead Goa Challengers at 19:30, with both teams looking to bounce back from a defeat in IndianOil UTT 2024.

IndianOil UTT 2024 is being broadcast live on Sports18 Khel and streamed online on JioCinema (India) and Facebook Live (Outside India). Tickets are available online on BookMyShow and offline at the box office near Gate no. 1 of the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

SATYA Shakti Foundation organized free health camps for people of Gujarat SATYA Shakti Foundation in association with SATYA MicroCapital Ltd. undertook a major initiative of organizing Free Mega Health Check-Up Drive with the noble purpose of creating public awareness for preventive healthcare and enabling a healthy society for people of Gujarat. Under this Mega Health Check-Up Drive, Health Camps were organized in Four villages located in the state of Gujarat. This initiative served around 400 people living in and around the villages of Nenpur, Choila, Umalla & Sukhsar and facilitated people with medical supervision from Certified Doctors. It also encouraged the beneficiaries to take care of their health and implement necessary lifestyle changes in accordance to prevailing pandemic conditions to live healthier lives. The day-long Health Check-Up camps were organized in the premises of nearby Temples and Panchayat Bhawan in respective areas under the guidance of doctors. People availed free health facilities entailing consultation from MBBS doctors for issues ranging from women health and child health to diet & nutrition, availing generic medicines, vitals check like hypertension test, blood pressure test etc. as well as counselling, during the health camp. Sharing humble thoughts on initiative, Shikha Sharma, Director & CEO, SATYA Shakti Foundation stated, “The health camp is one of the best ways of assisting people who require health attention, and we feel privileged to be able to conduct these free health camps. Considering the large turnout of people, we hope to organize many more such health camps in the future to enhance the overall health of the citizens. Also, I am thankful to Mr. Vivek Tiwari, MD, CIO & CEO, SATYA MicroCapital for supporting us in this initiative. I feel awestruck when I realize that SATYA is making extra efforts in serving humanity by providing healthcare checkup services apart from facilitating micro loans to those living on the bottom of the pyramid. I am also grateful to all the Doctors and Medical Fraternity for making this happen”. A visibly very happy participant remarked, “Such free health camps should be organized frequently, so that rural people can avail the benefits of preventive healthcare. I appreciate the choice of organizers for selecting the place of worship as the site for this health camp. Attending a health camp at a place of worship has bestowed enormous faith among us for assessing best medical facilities at our doorstep free of cost. These camps have certainly motivated people to stay proactive about their health and make preventive health check-ups a part of their lifestyle”
