HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, Hosts ‘The Pink Run’ to Honour Cancer Champions and Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

 

Ahmedabad, 2025:HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, organized “The Pink Run” marathon on the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More than just a marathon, The Pink Run stood as a movement to save lives, celebrate survivors, and inspire families to prioritise preventive health. The 5 km and 10 km runs started from HCG Aastha Cancer centre sola  and concluded at HCG Aastha Cancer centre sola and the event was flagged off by Chief Guest Shri Vijay Kumar Jaiswal, I.R.S., Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad.

Organised under the theme “Breast Cancer Awareness & Early Detection,” the event featured 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km categories, drawing close to over 1,000 participants, including survivors, NGOs, corporates, families, fitness groups, and medical professionals. It aims to unite the community in a collective mission to fight breast cancer.

Early detection of breast cancer is crucial because it significantly improves the chances of successful treatment and survival. When identified at an early stage, breast cancer can often be treated with less aggressive methods, leading to better outcomes and a higher quality of life. It also reduces the risk of the disease spreading to other organs and lowers overall treatment costs. Regular self-examinations, clinical check-ups, and mammography screenings play a vital role in catching the disease early, when it is most treatable.

Dr. D.G. Vijay, Director –HCG Aastha Cancer center , Senior consultant  & Head of Department -breast Oncology ,HCG Aastha Cancer Centre – Ahmedabad said, “Breast cancer, when detected early, can be successfully treated in most cases. Through The Pink Run, we aim to spread this life-saving message across the community by encouraging women to be proactive about regular screenings and self-examinations. This marathon is not just about fitness, it’s a powerful reminder that awareness and early detection can make all the difference.”

The event also included a special felicitation of breast cancer survivors, who were honoured on stage and presented with curated hampers. Pink-themed branding was displayed across the city in the days leading up to the event, symbolising solidarity, strength, and the shared commitment to fighting breast cancer.

Dr. Manasi Shah, senior consultant Medical Oncologist, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre – Ahmedabad, added, “We want to build a culture where women prioritise preventive health and screenings. Events like The Pink Run empower the community with knowledge and celebrate survivors. Together, we can ensure early detection and healthier lives for all women.”

Dr. Kinjal Jani, Director & head of Department radiation oncology  , HCG Aastha Cancer Centre – Ahmedabad, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Each participant was not just running a distance, they’re running for a cause, for a mother, a sister, a friend. It’s a community coming together to say, ‘we care, and we’re aware.”

The Pink Run reinforced HCG Aastha Cancer Centre’s continued leadership in cancer care, patient advocacy, and public health education. With wide participation and city-wide visibility, the event became a landmark awareness initiative in Gujarat.
