Ahmedabad: HDFC Bank, one of India’s largest banks, along with the Gujarat Police, has launched a road safety awareness campaign aimed at promoting responsible driving behaviour and encouraging vehicle drivers to follow traffic rules. The campaign was launched on Friday as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to mark National Road Safety Week from January 11–17.
The campaign was launched at Vastrapur Lake in Ahmedabad in the presence of senior officials of HDFC Bank, including Zonal Heads and Senior Vice Presidents Dhaval Parekh, Jigar Shah, and Harshal Nehru, Vastrapur Police Inspector Nitesh Desai, and other representatives from Gujarat Police and Studds, who are supporting the initiative.
Under the campaign, two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets were issued red cards carrying safety messages and encouraged to use helmets. On the other hand, vehicle drivers adhering to traffic rules were given green cards appreciating their responsible behaviour. Both cards feature important emergency contact numbers, including those of the police, fire brigade, ambulance services and the Abhayam women’s helpline, to enhance public awareness and preparedness.
Commenting on the initiative, Jigar Shah, Zonal Head and Senior VP, said, “Road safety is a shared responsibility. Through this campaign, we aim to create a behavioural shift by highlighting unsafe driving practices and recognising responsible road users.”
A highlight of the campaign was the introduction of a special road safety mascot, designed to engage citizens and emphasise the importance of following traffic rules. As part of the drive, volunteers and officials will be stationed at major traffic signals for two hours each in the morning and evening in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.

National Road Safety Week is observed annually across India to highlight the importance of safe driving practices, pedestrian protection and improved road infrastructure. Through this multi-city campaign, HDFC Bank seeks to contribute to reducing road accidents and making roads safer.p
